Every project has a files area where you upload, organise and manage documents – project-wide under "Global files" or within an individual file. You reach it via the folder icon in the project header.

Toolbar

  • Upload – add files from your computer (also via drag & drop into the area).
  • Folder / File – create a new folder or file.
  • Trash – view deleted files and restore them.
  • Request documents – request files from other people.
  • Sort and Move – reorder or move files into another folder or file.
  • Top right you switch between list and tile view.

Actions for selected files

Select one or more files via the checkboxes – an action bar appears at the bottom. From there you can download, share, copy, set the permissions of the selection or delete it; more actions are in the more menu (…).

After selecting a file, the action bar appears at the bottom with download, share, permissions, delete and more

To open and edit a file, click it – see Using the PDF viewer for details. How to attach files directly to a record is shown in Adding attachments to a file.

Collapsing the upload area

The area you drop files onto can be collapsed using the small arrow at its top edge – leaving more room for the file list. Aktenplatz remembers the setting per user, so it still applies the next time you open the view.

Renaming several files at once

Select several files and rename them in one go – for example to give them a common prefix. The file extension is protected while you do so, keeping the files openable with the right program.

Moving and saving with a folder picker

Move to and Save as now let you navigate the folders instead of typing a path: go back with One level up, see the current location, and for a folder without subfolders you are told that you can save right here.

Once started, Aktenplatz reports whether everything arrived – first “Moving files…”, then “Move complete”. If the operation could not be confirmed, you are explicitly asked to check the target.
