Deleted files are not gone immediately: they go into the project's trash and can be restored from there.
How to restore a file
In the files area, open the Trash button at the top. The Deleted files window opens with all deleted documents (name, size, created and modified date).

Select the file you want via its checkbox. Using the actions shown you can then restore it – it reappears in its original location – or delete it permanently. Use the "Filter files" field to quickly find a specific file.
Audit-locked files: provide a deletion reason
If a file is protected by a retention policy (Object Lock), it cannot be permanently deleted. When you try to delete it, the note "This file is protected by a retention policy (Object Lock) and cannot be permanently deleted. Please provide a reason for deletion." appears. Enter a deletion reason and confirm. The reason is stored and viewable in the recycle bin – keeping the deletion auditable.
Change history in the recycle bin
The File history shows what happened to files and folders – such as moved, restored or deleted. You can narrow the displayed time range, and the source and target of an action are clickable so you can jump straight to the place involved.
